In 2019 I decided to build the largest WordPress child theme library in the World. The original version of the website was hosted on childthemewp.com and now we’ve moved to wordpresschildtheme.com. My aim was and still is to make it easier for web developers and entrepreneurs around the World, to find and use WordPress child themes. There are lots of benefits of using a child theme, but generally speaking using one is best to future proof your website!

A framework for theme modification
Download and activate a WordPress child theme to safely customise your self-hosted WordPress website.
1 child theme download includes 1x .zip child theme file for a specific parent WordPress parent theme.
Each child theme .zip file contents include:
- script.js
- style.css
- screenshot.png
- functions.php
How to install without FTP
1) Login to your WordPress Dashboard. By Default you do by adding wp-login.php to the end of your self hosted WordPress website URL. Example: https://www.wordpresschildtheme.com/wp-login.php
2) Navigate to: Appearances > Themes
3) Click the Add New Theme Button
4) Select the child theme you’ve downloaded
5) Click activate to activate your new WordPress child theme
Important
Please note: the correct parent theme needs to be installed and active (before following these activation steps).
Requirements
- Self-hosted WordPress website
- Existing parent theme
- PHP 7.X or greater
- Knowledge of how to activate a theme in the WordPress dashboard

Our child themes do not contain third-party copyrighted material.
The child themes listed on our website are NOT parent themes.
Our website does not provide WordPress parent theme downloads. You can download a parent theme from the original theme author website.
If you intend to use one of our child themes alongside a premium theme you will need to purchase a valid parent theme license from the parent theme author. Please respect the wishes of the parent theme author.
